Twitter is infamous for impossible questions. What’s your favorite book, food, place you’ve traveled, movie, song? Who can answer these open ended loaded questions? Not me. I always have to qualify it like the most favorite one that I just read or read when I was eleven or just watched.
I’ve always orbited the periphery of coolness and nothing has driven that home more than SM. This is particularly true with the music. Accounts are always dropping songs and song references like I know half of these people. Often it’s an account owner I consider a contemporary spouting out songs I’ve never heard of that are hella cool. Me? I’m just standing in the corner Elaine dancing pretending like I belong at this party asking in anyone’s heard about that new band Billie Eilish.
Here’s what being this weird and 100% out of the cool kid’s club does for me – it keeps me really open minded about everything. I’m heady, intellectual, and totally low brow all at the same time. I love literature, the kind that’s hard to read, and smutty romance, the kind that requires some privacy. Same with music (sans the smutty) and movies and anything that entertains or informs. My curiosity is boundless and endless for all topics. It has in many ways made me a jack of all trades and master of none.
I’ve come to peace with the fact I’ll never conquer windmills in life. That’s not to say I regret my life, no more than most. It’s a good life. We all have our highs and lows when looking back over history. SM brings together the passionate. I don’t need a suit of armor but I do want to know if it was out there for me to hear or watch or learn or speak about I did so with those who are equally as passionate in life about such topics.
It feeds the soul, this sort of thing.
What do you love? What’s your favorite anything?
